Make the guide work for your itinerary
For a traditional sightseeing day: Pick the Insadong option and check its Thursday closure before setting your schedule.
For a west-Seoul day: Save PLANT Yeonnam alongside your Hongdae plans. Keep the lunch break in mind if you are starting late.
For Itaewon, Gangnam, or Seongsu: Choose the restaurant in the area you will actually visit, then check its current opening day. A Monday meal needs particular care because several entries list Monday closures.
Use our Seoul subway guide to plan the route and Korea travel apps guide to save Korean names and addresses. Avoid relying only on a translated business name when matching a map result.

Questions to ask when ordering vegan food
A meal described as vegetarian may not meet your vegan requirements. Ask about the complete dish, including sauces, broth, toppings, and side dishes. If you need information about allergies or shared equipment, ask separately.
You can show this message to staff:
저는 비건입니다. 고기, 생선, 해산물, 달걀, 우유 등 동물성 재료를 먹지 않습니다. 소스와 육수, 반찬에도 동물성 재료가 들어가는지 확인해 주세요.
I am vegan. I do not eat animal ingredients, including meat, fish, seafood, eggs, or dairy. Please check the sauces, broth, and side dishes too.
Confirm any additional ingredients you personally avoid. An all-vegan menu helps with ingredient selection but does not, by itself, answer questions about a particular allergy or halal preparation standard.
Frequently asked questions
Which vegan restaurant should I choose for Insadong?
Oh Se Gye Hyang is the Insadong entry in this guide. Its own website identifies the food and associated sauces, broths, and side dishes as plant-based.
Are the two PLANT branches the same location?
No. Yeonnam serves the Hongdae-area part of this guide, while the other branch is in Itaewon. Save the exact branch address and confirm its own schedule.
Does the Gangnam restaurant mean Gangnam Station?
No. Mahina Vegan Table is in Gangnam district near Apgujeong. Use the full address when planning transport.
Is vegan food automatically halal?
No. Vegan ingredients and halal certification are different criteria. Check alcohol, certification, and preparation separately if they matter to you.
