Privacy Policy

This policy explains how SomethingMania (https://somethingmania.com) handles information when you browse our Korea travel and food guides or leave a comment.

Information collected and why

You can read our guides without registering. If you leave a comment, WordPress collects the information entered in the comment form, including your name, email address, optional website and message, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string for spam detection. Your email address is not displayed publicly. Your approved display name and comment may be visible to other visitors.

The hosting service may process technical logs, such as IP address, requested pages, browser information and access times, to operate the website, troubleshoot problems and protect it from misuse.

Comments, spam protection and profile images

Comments are held for manual approval before publication. The site displays profile images through Gravatar. An anonymized string derived from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check for a profile image; after approval, that image may appear beside your comment. See the Automattic privacy policy for information about Gravatar.

Cookies and analytics

If you choose to save your name, email address and website when commenting, WordPress uses cookies so you do not need to enter them again. These cookies normally last one year. Administrative login cookies are used for authenticated site management. The Korea travel checklist stores your selected month, trip length, arrival plans, travel preferences and completed items in local storage in your browser on your device. The checklist does not submit these choices to our server. Saved choices remain until you reset the checklist or remove the site data in your browser.

The site uses Google Analytics through Site Kit to understand how visitors use our guides. Site Kit places the Google Analytics code on the website, with tracking excluded for logged-in users. Analytics can use cookies and process information such as pages visited, referral sources, device and browser information, interactions and approximate location. See Google’s privacy policy, how Google uses information from sites that use its services and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising preferences

Advertising is not currently enabled through this site’s Google Site Kit integration. We will update this policy to describe advertising services and related data practices before enabling them. Google and other advertising vendors use cookies on participating sites to deliver and personalize ads based on browsing activity.

You can manage or opt out of personalized Google advertising through Google Ads Settings. You can also visit aboutads.info to learn about opting out of participating third-party vendors’ personalized advertising cookies. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Sharing, retention and your choices

Information may be processed by our hosting provider and the service providers described above for website operation, security, profile images and analytics. These providers may process data outside your country under their own privacy policies.

Comments and related metadata may be retained while they remain relevant to the site, including to recognize follow-up comments. Technical logs and service-provider data are retained according to operational needs and the relevant provider’s settings and policies.

You may request access to or deletion of personal information associated with your comments through our Contact page. Requests may require verification. Information needed for legal, administrative or security purposes may be retained. Do not include passwords, identity documents or other sensitive information in a public comment.

You can control cookies in your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site functions. External links lead to websites with their own privacy policies.
